Bullet Dodged for Les Rouges
The Canadian soccer world held its collective breath yesterday when Alphonso Davies went down clutching his ankle during a training drill in Charlotte. However, medical scans revealed no structural damage.

Manager Jesse Marsch confirmed that Davies merely tweaked the joint and was pulled from training purely as a precaution. "Phonzie is fine. He’ll be terrorizing defenders next week, I guarantee it," Marsch told reporters.
As the co-hosts look to navigate a tricky group stage, Davies’s world-class pace and leadership are absolutely irreplaceable. He is expected to start on the left wing in their first match at BMO Field.
